Modifications to the RRV.

We fitted a cradle at the rear of the RRV to hold a “Pod”. Currently there are 5  Pod's which are all identical size and can be removed and inserted into the cradle as required. This allows us to carry 2 persons and a Pod full of equipment. Depending on what type of event we are responding to will dictate which Pod we carry.

The Pods are fitted out with different types of equipment, ie;

Fire Pod – carries a small fire pump which has the capabilty to operate if the RRV is moving or at anchor ( floating pump ). It also carries 60 metres of fire hose. Has a small monitor for boat fires allowing RRV operator hands free operation.

Medical Pod – carries a full medical kit including oxygen, resuscitation gear, blood pressure monitor, defibrillator, general trauma equipment, drugs, etc.

Lighting Pod – carries a powerful Xenon lamp on an extendable pole for lighting up a scene ie; boat on rocks, sinkings, helipad, incident lighting, searching for people in the water, etc. It can be setup on the RRV or on land. It also has 12 volt power for charging radios, cellphones, running spot lights, etc during incidents or power cuts. Also carries an inverter for 240 volt power. Lighting Pod power is from a large battery

( which can run the Xenon lamp for approx 8 hours ) which means silent operation.

Environmental Pod carries oil absorbent boom and pads etc.

Special Operations – is utilised for other emergency events, ie; Search and Rescue, transporting other equipment, flood relief materials, injured wildlife, Police Operations, etc.
